My posts have been super long, so I’m gonna aim for shorter-ish…
When it comes to evening out your work life balance, nothing says relaxation like a good old beach holiday (for me anyway). Albufeira was just that. It’s a coastal town in the Algarve, Portugal.
This was a complete impulse trip. After the longest Q2 ever I needed to get out…so I did. I searched and searched, I hate how travel sites make you choose the country you want to go to… Where’s the random beach holiday button, gah? Anyway, Portugal…. was amazing! White sand beaches, great food and my favourite tipple to hand, what more could you want.
We stayed near Santa Eulalia and on day one we rented a scooter, shout out to Algarve Riders, lovely people with good local knowledge . I can say that a scooter is the best way to get around if you’re a couple (less trouble parking). Santa Eulalia has its own beach, it was fairly quiet when we went, which is my preference.
If you want the “main” beach in the area, then try Praia da Oura. It’s way busier and more UK-centric, still gorgeous though.
The quietest and best beach we went to was Praia Maria Luisa beach. It was so peaceful. I got a lot of thinking done there.
The food was really good too. Try Ambrosia & Nectar. A bit cheesy looking from the outside but lovely food.
I left Portugal with a sense of wanting to go back. This was a much needed getaway and we didn’t go very far intentionally. As I mentioned in a previous post, Portugal was where I decided to start this blog. I felt inspired and I know it was brought on by the peace and tranquility of just being by the sea with not a care in the world.
