  • BBQ Season

Summer isn’t quite here yet, but BBQ season is well and truest up and running. Today is bank holiday Monday- to those outside the UK, it’s just a random day off. I don’t think we’re celebrating anything in particular. I headed up to Birmingham for the long weekend where I attended my first BBQ of the season and it all got me thinking about the fun summer ahead.

My home environment is so important to me these days. At this time of year it’s all about getting the garden in shape, I’d like to think for my own summer BBQ, but we’ll have to see about that, ha! This is very high up on my to-do list this week and includes call the gardening company because the weeds are beyond me. I’m thinking that I need a better system so that it doesn’t have to get to jungle status before I sort it out each year. If you have any tips on keeping your garden in shape, or know of any environmentally friendly weed killer let me know. Otherwise, I’ll be sure to update you when I figure it out.

Of course this wouldn’t be a style blog if I didn’t talk about the fashions. If you follow my Instagram you will see I’ve started to incorporate some summer pieces in to my posts. The weather has been pretty cold up until last week, but I’m so glad things are finally heating up. I am ready to get the shorts out that’s for sure. This week I’ll be shooting a few new bits I picked up at the weekend. I’m loving hair ties, all beige outfits, and frills. I have to be careful with frills, being broad shouldered, they can box me out, but I think I found a top in H&M that should do the trick. Stay tuned…

The best part of spring/summer is all the extra days off we get and this is usually when most of us take a holiday. I just came back from New York and it was super chilled where I was staying. I always appreciate the additional headspace to reflect and reset and what better way to do it than away from all your normal stresses. When you get sucked in to the world of work, it’s easy to forget who you are and the things you love. I’m really working on ways to stay grounded at home and I’m finding that productivity tools and habit tracking are the way forward. If you’d like to hear more on that let me know.

What do you love about BBQ season? Let me know in the comments.
