  • I actually wore Jeggings

Jeggings, Next | Blazer, Next | Jumper, Topshop | Boots, River Island, old

Well, this is a really shocking thing for me to write. I mean dramatics aside, I could have honestly said before that I would not be caught dead in a pair of jeggings. If you know me, you’ll know I think leggings are just about passable as outside attire (I’m sorry I know they’re comfy but they are not trouser). While over the years I’ve become more comfortable with the idea of leggings as part of an outfit, for me, they need to be under a very long top and likely shoved in a pair of knee high boots. Don’t get me wrong, some of the sports luxe types look cute, but still, it’s not for me.

Anyway, we’re supposed to be talking about jeggings. I just never understood it- why would anyone need leggings that look like jeans? Well now I understand. As a pregnant woman, anything with a button near the middle of my body is a no no. So, unless I wanted to be resigned to dresses for my entire pregnancy I had to get on board with the elasticated waist.

Let’s face it, no way am I doing maternity jeans (if someone can change my mind on this then you will see a follow up post in the next few months). Hear me out on this. I get the whole comfort thing, but firstly I have not seen a pair that look remotely flattering, very rarely can you tuck a top in because they have that massive bit that covers you bump and what is the actually point of spending money on jeans you can only wear for a matter of weeks.

Anyway I get it, for some the comfort my just win out.

Again, back to jeggings! In summary, if you like them then wear them anyway. Either way they are a great alternative to maternity and I highly recommend them because they tend to be inexpensive, come in a wide variation of styles and you can continue to wear them after you’ve given birth (if you so wish) šŸ˜‰
