I finally feel like we are in to a new season, the weather is getting warmer and with one of the warmest bank holidays on record just behind us, it’s hard not to think of spring outfits and all the promise summer brings. As the season changes, so does my mood and I can’t help but feel a tad more optimistic and figure this is the perfect time to do a little life update. Catch up on my first life update here.
Life
At the moment, it’s all about home décor. MR and I are currently redecorating the dining room and kitchen. It’s mainly just a lick of paint and some heavy cleaning/organising, but we’ve also purchased a couple of new pieces including a pantry and side board. Not going to lie, I’m super excited for it to be finished. Just need to find the perfect rug, mirror and prints for the walls.
On the same note and if you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram stories, you’ll know I’ve discovered Mrs Hinch and a new joy for cleaning. I bought all the cloths and baskets to creat my own little Narnia under the kitchen sink. That’s all well and good but there’s no point unless you actually beef up your cleaning and tidying. For me, developing a sense of pride in our home and creating our own little sanctuary is key. I think when you break it down and do little bits often it makes such a difference. I’ve realised that by being proactive in this way during the week, I’m not spending my entire weekend cleaning (or just leaving it all together because things always come up on the weekend).
On a slightly more exciting note, I’m off to New York next week Saturday. It’s my home town and I’m looking forward to catching up with friends and family I don’t get to see often enough. I left New York as a kid and while I’ve been back lots of times, I feel like I never did the whole sightseeing thing properly. I’m hoping to get lots of fabulous content for my blog and Instagram account.
TRE
It wouldn’t be much of a life update if I didn’t talk a bit about the emotional stuff. Things are thankfully quite a bit better on the work front since my last update. I must say that I do love my day job, but the volume of my workload has been a lot to cope with. I’m still utilising tools like staying in the present moment, being more focused and taking a more realistic approach to what can be done in a day.
That said, I putting a lot more emphasis on self care and I have become more strict about leaving the office on time. Evening are so important, I really value the time to wind down and reflect on what happened during the day. I also find taking time in the evening to plan the next day is a good stress busting tactic.
Style
Did I mention it was Spring? Ha! With the warmer weather comes a change in wardrobe. This year, I’ve been a little more organised and I already have a fair few pieces lined up for when the temperature ramps up. Some bits I’ve been loving in particular are below
Blog direction and goals
Ok, so if it isn’t obvious, I’m really trying to make a good go of the whole blogging and content creation thing. I love it and find the sense of accountability has really helped me achieve things in my personal life that have been overlooked for a long time.
The direction I am taking is going to be heavily style focused as that is what I love, but equally home décor and lifestyle are a passion of mine too. I’m setting up my blog shop front as well, and I’m hoping you guys will like and buy the items I showcase. The intention is to add the items from my Instagram posts as I often get people asking me where stuff is from, I’ll also put up random bits I really love or aspire to and if you like them then you don’t have to go hunting them down.
Also, some exciting news, I’ve finally opened my blog store. This is where you will find affiliate links to all the items I love if you want to shop them. The more you click on them and perhaps if you really like something make a purchase, you would be showing me your support at no extra cost to you. I have not earned any money from my blog yet, I do it because I love it, but if I can monetise it a bit that will really help me up my game on the content I deliver. Also, I can see what you guys like and feature it more.
This post is already super long so I’m going to leave it here, but if you enjoy these life update posts, please comment below. I love to hear what’s going on with you guys too- any holidays planned?
