Blogs are back people. I too am becoming a bit disenchanted with the fleeting moment that is social media. As a blogger you’re made to feel like the only way to be relevant is to have a massive Instagram following – I’m sure it helps, but I want to grow something that has a bit of longevity. I mean how can you get to know me and my best recommendations if it’s gone in a story within 24 hrs?

Anyway, I’ll be doing some shorter snappier posts to build up a bit more of a catalog of my favourites. Hopefully, one day some may even see my space as a point of reference.

Right enough rambling! Being pregnant, a main concern is often how to avoid stretch marks. Now I’m still very much pregnant and the real proof of my my methods won’t materialise until after bubs is born, but sometimes grandma knows best. I remember the other week, when I was in the thick of my dermatitis nightmare, my grandma said – you can never go wrong with coco butter. Now whilst I ended up needing something a little stronger for my face, I still feel like my daily use has had a smoothing evening effect.

There’s now three different coco butter products in my arsenal and they’re all Palmers.

The solid – now this does me solid (see urban dictionary for definition) in the evening of skin tone department. Unbeknownst to me, when I decided to “hinch” my laundry supply (if I have to explain this reference you have seriously been living under several rocks) the use of fabric softener and those lovely smelling fragrant balls would cause a super allergic reaction in my chest and back. It took me weeks to figure this out after the whole dermatitis issue (see this post) I thought it was yet another hormonal reaction. By this point I’d washed all our clothes in the stuff. Talk about needles in a haystack. I think most have now been rewashed without the offending detergents, but I can’t help but fear a contaminated tee is lurking somewhere. Anyway, the point is, this stuff fades marks. No, it’s not overnight! The first thing you’ll notice though, is a smoothing of the texture. The blemish fade comes later. Being pregnant, there’s not much in the way of fade creams (scared AF of that shite anyway) that I can use.

Wow this post is a bit long…. Bare with me!

The cream – the solid can be a bit oily. So my smoothing butter of choice for all over the body is actually the coco butter cream. I love the smell and how it sinks in to the skin. I try to put it on ASAP after showering to lock in some of that moisture.

What Stretch Marks – now this one is new in the stable! I’ve been using it for a couple of months and I always feel like my tummy is well hydrated and smooth, without being ashy. I’ve heard good reviews about this product and I think you get the best effects by applying morning and night and as early on in pregnancy as you can. As I say, I won’t know the full effect until around Feb some time.

I’d really love to know what your skin hero’s are. Let me know in the comments.
