  • Falling in to Autumn

    Coasters, Laura Ashley | Candle, Rituals |Mugs, M&S | Throw, M&S |Vase, M&S | Candle – M&S

Happy Sunday! The months have flown by and for me the last two have been a whirlwind. What, with finding out I’m pregnant, dealing with pregnancy related dermatitis, holding down a full time job and trying to make our removal company a success- it’s been manic! That said, Autumn is definitely my favourite season. Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved the feeling of a fresh start. Getting back to business after the summer, kids starting school, even the way the trees shed their leaves in preparation for new buds in the spring- it’s all very cathartic.

I don’t know if it’s the hormones, or someone sending me subliminal nesting thoughts, but I’m really in to doing up the house at the moment. There’s some bigger projects we’re working on before the baby comes, a nursery, a man cave and a redecorated dressing room to name a few, but there’s always small changes that can be made each week to bring in a more homely vibe.

I’ve never really been all that festive. Since starting blogging, though, I’ve come across so many other creators who have inspired me to really go for what I love. There’s no point sitting there watching others live their best lives, you have to create your own. I’ve come to realise I can be quite negative, seeing obstacles rather than solutions and justifying my reasoning by saying I’m being practical. Truth is, I’ve simply lacked vision. Sometimes, when there’s so much to do, it’s hard to know where to start. Over time, I’ve learned to just start, start with the little things and when it comes to the big stuff, put pen to paper and make plans for the future.

I’m learning to take pleasure in the small things and right now, as the months get colder, it’s all about creating a warm and cosy environment. Let’s face it, a nice outfit is one thing, but you can’t beat a good blanket, a hot mug of something and a good book.

I’d love to know what your favourite bits are to bring in the colder months. Is autumn your favourite season too? Let me know in the comments.
