  • Spring Break – New York Trip

I’m a bit lost as to which tome zone I’m currently in as I sit writing this blog post on the plane. I’m headed to New York and I thought, how good would it be if I could blog every day while I’m here.

This trip is just me and my dad. We are mainly going to visit my niece and nephew (my Dad’s grandkids) for the first time. It’s been great so far, me and my dad have travelled together before, that time we visited New York and Jamaica. Hearing his stories, some I’ve heard a thousand times before and then new ones, really brings us so much closer together.

I’ve also been able to use the time to reflect on my life and read my journal from the year so far. Honestly, daily journaling is the best habit I’ve picked up. When you read back your thoughts, you recognise trends and patterns in your daily life. Some good, some bad- often, you may have figured out a long standing issue in a previous entry and it’s not until you re-read it that you gain clarity.

I’ve really picked up journaling this year and I think that sentiment is now spilling over in to my posts. I’ve found that writing down my thoughts and reflecting on the day or the past in general, really focuses the mind as to what to do (or not do) in the future. Looking back at my entries this year, the overarching sentiment is being over-worked. Having to do multiple jobs and questioning if this is all life has to offer have really played on my mind.

I really appreciate this down time and my intention is to use it to form better habits and build a potential way out/through my current situation. None of us are held hostage in our lives, we have a choice. Either accept the status quo or take a chance on a better life. I know which way I’m going.
