Working in The City definitely has its ups and downs. My main gripes are usually to do with commuting. Hell hath no fury like a Londoner trying to get to work I tell ya! That aside, I can definitely say that there are more perks than pitfalls. Of course the rat race is ever present, the whole work hard play hard really does apply and it does get tiring. Once I’m in the office it’s head down until lunch time, aside from your usual office banter. I’m really lucky to have a team I get along really well with.

Today was a perfect example, a colleague and I met up with an ex-colleague for lunch. We ended up going to Fazenda in Leyden street, technically it’s a coffee house, but they do lunch. I swear if my mother was an old Italian, she would cook like this place. It’s like walking in to someone’s dining room, photos on the walls and of course there’s no menu. There’s an array of dishes and I just had a little of everything and it was delicious. This sort of random impromptu outing happens all the time. It was so random, I only just realised that the place has an art gallery downstairs, whoops – I’ll have to go again sometime.

Don’t even get me started on after work drinks. Just yesterday I met friends at Tom’s Kitchen near HMS Belfast at London Bridge. We had a lovely evening chatting and after a few I got the train home. It’s the London way ‘work, lunch and then drinks’.

I’m so glad it’s Friday though, I’m in need of some me time for sure!
