  • 5 Ways to Elevate your Life

I’m still in New York but it’s important to me to keep up with my blog and before I left London I really felt like I’d got a handle on its direction. I started my blog after a period of feeling like I lost myself. It brings a certain amount of accountability that lends itself to actually achieving what I set for myself. It’s been nearly 2 years since I started my blog and now I can see that the theme and undercurrent have been to do with making changes to better my life and be a better person. I hope you will come along with me for the journey, but for now I thought I’d lay out a few tips on how I approached my glow up in an attempt to help you elevate your life.

    Start a journal

Let’s do the elephant challenge, try to remember everything you think of for a whole day. Impossible you might say, well yes, of course. Elephants are notorious for having long memories, but us mere humans really need to write stuff down.

A lot goes on in our mind everyday. We think about interactions we’ve had with other people, plans for the future, what we need to get for dinner on the way back from work and a load of other things. Yes, the main point of writing stuff down is to remember it, but the elevation aspect comes from being able to refer back to old entries.

When you note down your feelings and read them back at a later date, you gain so much perspective and an ability to spot negative patterns in your thinking. You can turn these in to action items and optimise your life based on some of your deepest concerns

    Educate yourself

No man is an island, as the saying goes, so depending solely on the mental affirmation of your own thoughts could mean you miss out on vital information. The only way to improve is to attain skills or optimise your routine. If you don’t make changes to the various aspects of life how can you expect them to change or improve. The internet is a powerful place and there is bound to be someone who posts our creates videos that relate to what you need. Sometimes it’s your mindset that needs tweaking and I’ve found that constantly seeking out self help books and podcasts really helps to pinpoint where I’m going wrong. We are our thoughts after all and if we don’t learn new things, we can’t think differently.

Speak to others in the place you want to be

This is a difficult one, bit there may come a point in your life where your circle either brings you down or doesn’t do anything to enrich you. Now I’m not saying you need to ditch your friends to prosper, but it may be worth finding one or two new friends who are doing the things you aspire to. This helps you to see how it’s done and in the thick of it when you doubt your own abilities you can look to them and see that it is possible. They may even be able to give some tips on how to achieve what you’re working toward.

    Spend on quality

In a bid to elevate your life it’s so easy to focus on what you don’t have. The truth is, it all takes time. If you like fancy clothes or elaborate holidays- they may seem so unattainable in the beginning. The truth is, if you work smart and sacrifice some things you don’t really need you can have the things you want. For example, I probably fall in the love of fancy clothes bucket, rather than go to the High Street and dump my entire wage on massive hauls sometimes I’ll put the money aside and get a high end item instead. Eventually, I’ll have many higher end items and an elevated wardrobe.

    Invest in assets

This one is a kicker, wealth does not come from working a 9 to 5. We need to take the money we have and invest in things that will create cash flows. You would have to be living under a rock not hear all the people piping up about multiple streams of income; I am firmly on that bandwagon! Even if you don’t consider yourself to be materialist, assets can bring greater freedom. Imagine a life where you didn’t have to do structured work for other people, where you earn in your sleep and your tome is your own. Well no need to imagine, with research and smart moves we can make it happen. I know this is an intention I have for myself.
