First of all, happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there. I’m a new mama myself and this recent virus crisis has left me shocked and a little lost on how to spend my maternity leave. There’s one thing I’m learning through all this though, it’s the importance of getting up and ready in the morning like a normal day. It’s hard with a new baby, trying to build a routine when no two days are the same, but I persevere. I think it’s safe to say that everyone is finding a new normal. It’s the little things we do each day that will help to preserve our sanity.

In my last post I talked about things we can all do at home. I’m currently trying to be more consistent with my blogging goals. We can all work on a digital side hustle and if there is one thing to take away from all this, it’s that your normal 9to5 is not always a safe bet. The world is now a digital one with online services for just about anything. Aside from blogging and the fact I’m on maternity leave, I’m a sustainability analyst for an asset manager. I’ve gotten wind that my whole team is currently working from home and being part of a big bank it’s likely that our jobs won’t be affected. That said, one shouldn’t rest on their laurels. Instead, look around you. Take this unexpected time at home to really think about what you want and if your current situation will get you there. Is there anymore you can do?

Anyway, enough rambling for today. That said, I really like blogs that give an insight in to the writers mind, so I plan to write more of these short thought pieces and of course accompany them with a healthy dose of style. Some posts will be more light hearted than others but as always I’d love you to get involved and comment.

Are you building new routines? How are you finding your new normal? Are you able to work from home or has your job been affected? Are you planning to create a digital side hustle, or how do you plan to use any unexpected free time you have recently?
